This is too cool not to share *UPDATED*

I am too impressed with the awesomeness of this not to share it, that is why I am posting, this tool is really totally awesome.  This is cross-posted here and it is where I'll be for discussion.

I hope this isn't too big for the screen I'll edit it if it is.

okay the first attempt didn't work to put it in a frame, let me try number attempt number two...

nope I am bordering on fail territory...

again I fail...

Success.  Anyway check it out, it will run slow as it is a java app. but ti is way fun.

Student Guy

After studying a bunch and a near epic sleep, I am back here (yes the shortest GBCW ever, that is part of the shame I decided. Please feel free to throw that back in my face at any time (I'll only not be embarrassed by the people who showed themselves as haters and of course the troll swithing sides/rankles/lemon714/switchings sides2). I also have changed my bio and my sig as part of a self shaming/atonement action. When my finals are over, I'll be writing a long apology for my actions which precipitated my GBCW (heh that was short). I am open to other suggestions for atonement and will consider any suggestions (but please remember I am a poor writer with a lack of attention), so suggestions of a 10,000 word diary aren't likely to fly. Other than that I am game for whatever is thrown at me that is humanly possible for me to do. Peace, SG.

Should've thought to link it here. (none / 0)

I was shown that a couple weeks ago. It's fun, but you have to suspend a bit of disbelief in the sense that no one, no matter what kind of mandate they receive, is going to be able to cut defense spending by 10%.

Re: This is too cool not to share (2.00 / 2)

Also noting that I love how so many people assume a liberal bias in the application because of the huge windfalls of rolling back the Bush tax cuts and bringing troops home earlier. That damned pesky reality is so partisan!

Whaaaat? I leave for the weekend and miss (2.00 / 1)

a StudentGuy GBCW diary?! That does it. No more going away for the weekend. The obsessive/compulsive feeling  that I might miss something if I miss a couple of days has been diagnosed and confirmed. Treatment: No more mini- vacations! No more sleep! Only crackers and water! (soda fizzes and takes too long). I shall keep vigil, blogging through the daylight, blogging through the wee hours of the morn, never to miss another "development," work be damned!

Seriously, SG,  I'm glad you didn't leave. You're a valued member of this little corner of the world. And that's not snark!

I comment on your "I'm too embarrassed to stay" diary yesterday that you should reflect on it over the weekend and return to prove that you are "better than that." You must be a fast reflector. Good to see you back.

I dont know but at the end of the game it says: Congratulations you're a badass. score: 100 trillion. apparantly I won.

[but really I only scored 1 full badge (energy independence); i somewhat succeeded at economic stimulus and health but not really; but hell, I outscored Bush, and I wasnt in debt.]

Always a treat! (2.00 / 3)

I have managed to just barely reduce our current debt while providing health care and research and independence from foreign oil. This will keep the people of the US healthy and enable them to work hard at those new green friendly jobs and at replacing some of the military jobs. What is missing from this card deck, however, is a flat tax card. I want to set a flat tax rate (NO deductions for anything) of 30% of every dollar for individuals who make over 10 million a year in income by any means. That includes taxing dividends on stocks, etc. That's reasonable, right?

It might be rigged (2.00 / 2)

I was able to reduce the deficit, push the budget bust to almost 2070, shrink the size of government, and completely fill my three badges: health/wellness, economic stimulus, and safety net. That is universal health care, more assistance for the poor, better education funding, and stronger social security benefits -- but government became smaller as a percentage of GDP.

That sounds freakin' awesome, but even if it were politically feasible to do all of those things, I wonder if the impact would be what the game says it would be. I kind of doubt it.

But if the game is accurate, I just restored our nation to greatness. Me for VP.

Re: It might be rigged (none / 0)

Well, like I said, it seems a little rigged. Not utterly wrong, but best case scenarios for all of the progressive options.

What I do like about the game is that it makes you focus on your top priorities. I didn't choose energy independence or environment as priorities, so I skipped things like mass transit investment. I really believe in it, but I wanted to pay for health care and education first. That kind of decision making is very realistic, even if the projected outcomes are not.

Well I filled the Green, Health and Wellness and Energy Independence badges and the budget on track till 2063.  All it took was cutting the military back and making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.

So yeah (2.00 / 1)

part of my atonement is not using my ability to rate (including HRing stuff by rankles) or to rec.
Another is the epically horrid sig.
Another is that when I am fully back I will not diary on things that I enjoy (illuminating narratives or performing analysis) but instead do issue pieces and candidate diaries.

any suggestions from those whom I consider trollish will be ignored and mocked by yours truly.  Because I trust the good members of the community who have he community's best interest at heart to come up with sufficiently appropriate and borderline evil punishments

(though I beg you do not ask me to be nice to rankles, that would be completely wrong)

I hate rankles, rankles should go F##K himself, Hard, until he is bleeding, and then he should go have a lemon party with Ron Paul and Buster McDermot.  After that he should be put in an asylum for his own good.

rankles is a troll.  Trolls live under bridges in children's literature.  Therefore I can only assume that rankles is living under a bridge.

We should find rankles and take him to a shelter where his many needs can be taken care of by trained professionals.

You have no idea what a gem this is for me!  My boyfriend is a republican (as are most of my family, friends and co-workers) but he hates McCain.  However, he's leery of Obama's policies because he wants to know where the money will come from for education, infrastructure, etc.  I'm going to use this to show him!!
So thanks again!

In regard to suggestions for your "atonement".  I would have to suggest an apology directly to the person who you were trying to destroy and out while posting false information about her.  Then when that is done, encourage the others who were assisting you in your attempts to do the same.  And then I would drop the atonement thing, other than wearing a potato sack, because it sounds really hokey and fake.  Thank you.
