I am a medical student. I live in Minneapolis, MN and grew up on a small farm.
Since mid march this website has featured a lot of concern thrown around by both sides. I have found a perfect reponse to those who are greatly concerned
The use of fear has failed in three seperate instances in the South. Is fear dead as a campaign tool, no but it is less effective.
Today there are some important races going on. There are several open threads about the WV primary (where Clinton will rout Obama by at least 30%). I advise you to check them out and congratulate Sen. CLinton on her big win and do it civilly.
However there is a very important race for a federal office going on in Mississippi.
Travis Childers is running against a buffoon (really the guy has Klan issues). If he wins this race the democratic majority in congress is one greater. While Travis is a very conservative democrat (the term Bush dog comes to mind), he will be one more vote for shifting the composition of the house committees. Also he is right on a bunch of stuff like the Iraq war and trade.
I post a result link in the first update
Now a few weeks ago a prominent blogger here (anyone have any guesses) was "concerned" that the republicans would attack candidates for local races by tying them to Barack Obama. There were 3 tests that would show the effect of the fear card.
The first was in LA-06. Don C. was running for a fairly red seat against an incompetent candidate. Freedom's Watch (aka the unofficial arm of the RNC) spent boatloads of money propping up the republican and trying to tie Don to Barack Obama. The result: Don won by over 3%.
Test two was the NC primary, the race was tightening according to the polls and the NC GOP ran ads attack the Gov. candidates as being too close to Barack Obama (Bev. Perdue in particular). What was the result, Obama won by a healthy margin and Perdue won as well.
The third test is today. Mr. Childers is runnig in MS-01. It is a red seat but he has an incompetent opponent and a lead in the polls. The RCCC again tried to tie Childers to Obama.
What will the final result be from the Republican fear (also unfortunately also subscribed to by a great many democrats) event. Will it be a 0-3 run for fear or will fear win a battle (if you live in MS-01 get out and vote!)
This diary will look at a reason why John McCain will have trouble in republican strongholds in the corn belt (more specifically IA, NE, and IN (as MN and IL are solidly blue for november unless it is a blowout for John McCain).
(Disclaimer: I grew up on a 600 acre farm in West Central MN. My father is on a local ethanol cooperative's board (produces 20 mil gallons a year)).
This diary is part 3 in a 50 part series.
Now some people here might say that Obama is insulting 2 states, others my say that Clinton insults 30 states, but I can do better, I am going to insult every state in the union before November, for my previous diaries look at MN and MO.
Also in this diary I will not go into some of the richest veins of insult to Florida which include elections.
Today alone there were two diaries that are complete and utter BS.
The first is by (go see for yourself) and is about how Obama was in a pew during one of Rev. Wright's infamous sermons of which snippets get played on cable news almost every day. The link is here:

A vast majority of the commenters noticed that the video is really poorly spliced together. By splicing things together a person could prove almost anything including that Abraham Lincoln and Marylin Monroe were in the same room
UPDATE this diary was either deleted or taken down!!You might not know about this, but there is serious discontent in the Republican Party. At the Nevada State GOP Convention, something unexpected happened.
